My first post here, and I really do feel like giving a better introduction of myself before asking the question, so bear with me.
My online ventures started back in mid-2005 when I joined keywordavalanche. Those were the good days when creating autogenerated portal sites and blog and pinging brought me $30/day/domain name - but for me, those days are long gone.
Since April 2006, I’ve endeavoured with creating white hat sites monetized with Adsense and Chitika, and I average about USD1.50/day per 10-post blog; of which I have 5 so far. I’d like to reach a stable $100/day for starters, and have read almost every "authoritative" Adwords / Adsense / Affiliating eBooks out there, and even started a few Adwords campaigns (about 10) on some CB products such as DUI, Bad Credit Loans, etc and got zilch. Of course, I’d only spent less than $10 since April 2006 on Adwords coz I got distracted with enlarging my white hat sites.
I sort of thought through my desire for building massive volumes of sites monetized by PPC (Adsense / Chitika) and wondered if it’d be better to earn money through Affiliate commissions, and that is how I ended up on eWealth, which happens to be …
… one of the best forums I’ve been on! You guys have it pretty much nailed between promomom, nebula, travis, etc (just my 2nd day on board, so forgive me for leaving out many other names) - and the information overload is too much to take in. The information shared is very, very valuable (eg the thread on tvonpc - heck, I was just about to start researching it, guess I won’t have to now ) and the back-and-forth between experienced members really shed a lot of light on the whle affiliate thing.
Which brings me to the first of many questions to come ( ) - would you advice me to start my journey with promoting digital products (eg beats365 - for which nebula seems to provide great support for affiliates, or CB products) or should I concentrate on physical products and services (such as those offered through Linkshare, CJ, satellite tv installations, etc). The reason why I’m seeking opinions on physical products is because of a comment made by Mpio which mentioned about the easo of conversions for programs such as promotions and coupons by merchants of physical products (http://www.ewealth.com/showpost.php?…1&postcount=34)
I guess I’m supposed to know that making money isn’t easy, but any insights you can give would be very appreciated. In addition to the above question, I’m also trying to find out from you if it’s statistically more sound to promote 100 affiliate programs which earn me net $30 / month ** each ** (is that too ambitious?) or if I’d be better off concentrating on 10 programs yielding $300 / month, in order to reach my $100 / day goal.
Thanks in advance for any help!
No, this is not easy and you could be at this for months or years before you start to make a signifigant income. However, take small steps and only spend what you can truly afford on promotion in PPC if that is where you are going to be headed now or in the future.
Additionally, use the SEARCH option to look for relavent information in the Forum.
The best Advice I can offer is to pick A PRODUCT(S) that you know something about to promote as opposed to picking something you know little or nothing about. Digital or Physical. This will help you with KW research, promotional methods and much more.
Try and limit yourself to a few products or you’ll just get all confused and lose you ass in the Search Engines. Starting off with 1 or 2 is generally the best practice to follow.
Best of Luck

Mpio - thanks for the quick and helpful reply! I’m into digital cameras and am an affiliate with Ritzcamera which has many promotions of all sorts (eg 12-month-bill-me-later option, free printers, etc) so I guess I’ll start there.
No worries,
With Christmas around the corner, I would be working away at that one starting right away. You should be able to sell a ton for them.
